Phototaxis
Ali Memhard

From small-scale spheres come sometimes sixteen-legged larvae,

furred worms eating away wool and becoming corn borers

and next

Pause in suspended animation filament fiber encasements

helplessly hidden under fragile fronds and fallen foliage.

Later emerge

grey ghosts wearing white

Fur cloaks and tawny shawls on shoulders:

clustering dust creatures accumulate in crawlspaces.

Nocturnal kites orbit with

red reflections in ten thousand retinas.
