Begin with ugly opaque paste
gritty on your fingers:
tastes semi-sweet, heavy, and very raw.
Use the hot iron black boxes
steaming, and waiting for the hissing whisper
when ugly opaque paste floods the plateaus.
Superheat the surface!
Exterior turning golden-hot solid;
pry the fragile honeycombs away from the dark hills.
Add maple red strawberries
and tree-tapped, saccharine-sweet syrup:
autumn plate presentation at sunrise.
