Water Damage
Ali Memhard

Ribcage filled with water,
sitting on the floor as the sediment, the grains of sand and clay
collect within the treads of your rubber soles.
Metal skin shriveling up, destroyed by the moisture,
red disease claiming the surface.
Your eyes were shattered by the impact.
That side view snapped away, reflection becoming impossible.
Your heart, now congested, was once combustion and heat and power.
The valves flooded.

Your organs are nonfunctional; not good enough,
too ruined for transplantation.
