Yellow Crane Pavilion (translation)
Jim Maybury
The ancestors
have already rode
the yellow crane
away--
and left this place
the yellow crane
pavilion.
Once gone
the yellow crane
will
not
return--
for a thousand years
the white clouds
float
empty
away.
In the fair plain
one sees
the Hanyang trees,
on Parrot Island
the fragrant grass
luxuriating.
At dusk
where is
my
home?
Above the river
waves of mist
bring
men
grief.
